Caboose Tiny House

A colorful, cozy tiny house on the Lamoille River’s edge — equal parts comfort, creativity, and Vermont charm

1449 Route 15, Johnson, Vermont

The Experience

Step inside this railway-inspired hideaway and you’ll find a space that sparks joy, comfort, and imagination in equal measure. Perched above the Lamoille River within Uncommon Accommodations’ 14-acre retreat, The Caboose offers a stay that’s both nostalgic and refreshingly original. Mornings bring the sound of the river flowing just below your deck and mist lifting through the trees; days unfold easily between dips in the swimming hole, hikes through the forest, or leisurely soaks in the riverside hot tub beneath the stars. In every season, it’s a cozy and creative escape — equally suited for romantic getaways, small families, or solo travelers looking to slow down and be inspired by Vermont’s wild beauty. With Johnson village, Stowe, Smugglers’ Notch, and Jay Peak all nearby, adventure is close — but the real magic is right outside your door.

The Uncommon Accommodation

Designed with color, character, and craftsmanship, The Caboose Tiny House transforms classic railway nostalgia into a modern Vermont retreat. Inside, warm wood accents and playful details create a space that feels both homey and one-of-a-kind. The main living area features a convertible futon for flexible sleeping arrangements, a propane fireplace for cozy evenings, and large windows that frame the forest and river beyond. The compact kitchen offers everything you need for simple meals, while the lofted full bed provides a snug hideaway beneath soft lighting. A full bathroom with endless hot water adds everyday luxury to this whimsical space. Step outside to your private deck to stargaze, sip wine, or listen to the steady rhythm of the river below. As part of Uncommon Accommodations, guests enjoy shared access to riverside amenities including the firepit, EV charging, and year-round hot tub — yet your little corner of Vermont remains entirely your own. The Caboose is more than a stay — it’s a story you get to step into.

What People Are Saying
★★★★★

“Tyler’s property is INCREDIBLE. I cannot write enough good things about it; it's beautiful, comfortable (especially the bedding), clean, easy to access, and it's exactly as described. Tyler’s communication was excellent. My daughter and I absolutely loved staying here and we would love to stay again. A couple took advantage of the hot tub, there were warm white lights strung everywhere, water flows by, there are mountains in the background, and a family of geese live within eyesight and earshot. It was incredibly relaxing. There is plenty to do nearby! And the restaurants... Wowsa! Fresh and tasty. The drive to Uncommon Accommodations is worth it on its own, lol. This is one of the most beautiful areas in the US I have ever been to. Thanks for having us!”

“This was our second tiny home of Tyler’s that we’ve stayed in and we loved it! The surroundings were beautiful in both the summer and the winter and we love the proximity to Stowe & other amazing nature around Johnson. The cabin was super cozy and the view was great. Thanks Tyler, we hope to be back soon!”

“Everything you need in a cozy space. We loved this spot and cannot wait to come back and check out the other tiny cabins. Grounds are kept clean and there is plenty of privacy and space between the cabins. Great for a peaceful stay. Close to Stowe and Mansfield Mountain. I also appreciated that they allow pets. We will be back!”

“This is the perfect getaway stay. It had been a goal of mine to stay in a little tiny home like this and I was not disappointed. The hot tub was an added highlight! We stopped by the local bbq joint, which I highly recommend. The tiny house was only 30 minutes from a hike close to Stowe, which was worth it, especially to swim near a waterfall. I definitely would come back!”

“This amazing Uncommon Accommodations compound is truly a gem and I can't wait to book another visit this fall and winter. It would be amazing to have a few other friends also rent the cool and unique tiny homes and cabins. Anyways cant say enough good things, I loved swimming in the river, the outdoor shower and hot tub amenities as well as the accommodations of the tiny home we stayed in. It’s also a super close drive to the town of Johnson and about 25 minutes from Stowe. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a great northern VT experience. Thanks!”

“Where to even start this place is awesome! Just like the pics, clean and in a perfect location. Hot tub was a nice bonus after a long day on the mountain. We also loved Tyler! Very responsive, friendly, and helpful. He was out shoveling a path right after it snowed so we wouldn’t walk in a foot of snow to our car. Already planning when we can come back.”
